Music...
Learning creative skills for life
Music is a language that is accessible to all (children and young people). It helps to support teamwork and independent learning through composition and performance. It is highly motivational and inspirational. Music technology is an excellent medium to deliver control ICT, tell a story through music or compose and perform work.

We have delivered African drumming workshops in all phases of education. In these workshops young people learn about elements of rhythm, conducting and dynamics together with writing and reading simple graphic notation. Other musical workshops include song writing and composing. We have produced a Key Stage 1 & 2 teacher resource for non-music specialists called `Sammy the Snake' that links music with maths. Our broad knowledge of music technology has supported more diverse musical composition projects including incidental music for theatre and television. We can also record on location with our 24 track multi recording mobile studio.

Writing and Making a Pop video
April 2011

This clip features two school videos, one a special school and one a primary.  The project lasted for 3 days onsite writing a song on day 1 (theme in this example 'Bullying' and 'Healthy Food') recording the song on day 2 and filming the pop video on day 3.  The video was then edited off-site in our film studio, however, this could be an onsite feature if appropriate.  The final video is exciting and inspiring, however the process involved the children researching the theme in a very motivational and creative way.  More examples of this type of project are available.

African Drumming and Songwriting
April 2011

African drumming provides a great opportunity for participants to play within an ensemble or take a solo part.  Performance skills are enhanced and confidence is built as participants access a very musical activity even if they have no musical ability. Projects can be at foundation to advanced participation and delivery.
